Number Theory

Tonight, on the Impulse Buying Network...

I've concluded that the reason we all like computers so much, specifically the reason we like getting new computers is the collection of numbers we get to spout at everyone we meet. The following numbers are associated with the machine I ordered yesterday:

  • 3
  • 800
  • 512
  • 1,326.91
  • 0
  • 80
  • 128
  • 3
  • 8x
  • 8x
  • 5.1

Full marks to anyone who can identify each number and its associated unit.

3 ghz chip, 800mhz front side bus, 512MB Ram, Euro 1326.91. 80 gb hard drive, 128 MB graphics card. 8 usb, 8x AGP? possibly… 5.1 compatible surround sound 3 years on site repair is the only thing i can think of and 0 cost cos your parents are paying…

Did I win?

Very close. I forgot about USB. That'd be 6. The second 3 was PCI slots. The first 8x was the speed of the single AGP slot, the second 8x was the speed of the DVD re-writer.

No no, the 1,326.91 is how many pieces of lego it is made out of. Am i right?…

No, it's modern lego, so it's just made of one giant molded piece that's only useful for one thing. The alternative picture on the back is of the same thing except the lego men look like they're having sex.

who ever said that computer people spouted nonsense? Those numbers were nearly as coherent without their labels. I almost guessed it exactly. Most people dont even know if what they are saying is accurate. well done me! woo!
