Other bloggers, do you ever feel like you're just wasting your time composing something and then throwing it into a hole? In all of the time I've been blogging (coming up to three years soon), my posting frequency has dropped many times while my participation in other online fora (newsgroups, Slashdot, even commenting on other people's blogs) hasn't really faltered. I think that's because it's a lot easier to respond to someone else than to start something yourself. Anyone agree?

Yes I do concur wholeheartedly.

Agreed. Generally since you actually have to have something to say in the first place to blog. It much easier to try and shoot someone elses opinions down in flames rather than have one yourself.

Ronan: That's not exactly what I meant, but you're right.

Although I don't think contributing to comments gives you the same amount of satisfaction as spewing out complete rubbish on your own blog… I also feel reluctant to rant in someone else's webspace.. perhaps I'm inventing my own web etiquette… which I could blog about, but I think I've used up all my energy here.
